Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Season each side of the beef steak with salt, garlic powder, and black pepper, then add to the skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare.
Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest. In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and sauté until caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
While the onion is cooking, roughly chop the mixed nuts.
